Confined spaces are commonly found in tanks, ducts, flues, chimneys, containers or other similar enclosed or partially enclosed structures. They pose dangers because they are usually not designed to be areas where people work.
This course is appropriate for those working in operational roles undertaking work in confined spaces in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. It is designed to teach participants how to identify confined space hazards, work safely within confined spaces according to an issued permit and operate various confined space safety equipment.
This training is required for anyone who may be required to act as a standby, operate gas detectors or to safely and efficiently enter and work in a confined space. This course is delivered and assessed on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909 by Recon Industries Australia.
This course will be delivered in the workplace or at a Recon Industries Australia facility.
Participants must have the physical fitness to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstrations for this course, such as the undertaking the requirements to safely enter, work in and exit a confined space wearing the appropriate PPE.
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.
No industry recommended renewal is identified on the certificate, employers are recommended to consult with stakeholders to identify appropriate training periods.
No work placement will be required as part of this course.
